HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

Process donations and memberships, send receipts, and manage renewals.
Send updates you sign up for (impact notes, event invites). You can unsubscribe anytime.
Display your name on our donor wall only if you opted in and gave a display name.
Improve site performance and protect against fraud or abuse.
Meet legal, accounting, and audit requirements.

PAYMENTS (STRIPE)

We use Stripe Checkout for payments. Stripe collects your card details directly and gives us a token and payment status. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

SPAM PROTECTION (reCAPTCHA)

Some forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block bots. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s policies:

DONOR WALL AND RECOGNITION

We will list your name publicly only if you checked the box to be listed. You can ask us to change or remove your listing by emailing info@thenatureguardians.org.

LEGAL BASES (EEA/UK VISITORS)

If you’re in the EEA/UK, we process:

Contract: to take and manage your donation or membership.
Legitimate interests: site security, analytics, donor support.
Consent: email updates and public recognition.
Legal obligation: recordkeeping for tax and compliance.

SHARING AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

We share data with vendors who help us run the site and process payments. They only use data to provide their services to us:

Stripe (payments, Customer Portal)
Website hosting/WordPress (site operation)
Gravity Forms (form handling)
Email provider (sending notifications and updates)
Google reCAPTCHA (spam protection)

We do not sell personal information.

DATA RETENTION

We keep personal data only for as long as it’s needed to process donations or memberships, provide receipts and support, meet legal and audit requirements, prevent fraud, and honor your preferences. When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymize it.

Donations and memberships: kept as needed for receipts, support, tax, audit, and dispute handling.
Form submissions and emails: kept as needed to respond and maintain records.
Logs and analytics: kept as needed for security and performance.

Some records may remain in encrypted backups for a short period. If you ask us to delete your data, we’ll remove what we don’t need to keep and retain only what the law requires.
