BRING NATURE BACK

Restoring Shahdara Point, Islamabad

Shahdara Point is one of the last freely accessible natural sites near the capital. It has no waste collection, no monitoring, and no authority formally responsible for its condition.

Nature Guardians will carry out a full restoration of the site – clearing accumulated waste, installing permanent waste points and signage, and producing the first documented record of the trail’s condition.

To make this possible, we need community support, volunteers on the ground, and funding to reach our restoration target.

01
The Problem
Shahdara Point costs nothing to enter, and that is precisely why it has been allowed to deteriorate. Sites without ticketing or a designated custodian rarely appear in municipal maintenance budgets. Shahdara has never had a waste collection contract, permanent bins, or any form of environmental monitoring.
02
The Impact
The damage compounds every season. Plastic and glass accumulate along the trail and stream banks, and waste carried by the water moves downhill toward the catchment serving communities below. Visitors who want to dispose of their waste responsibly have nowhere to do so.
03
Why It Matters
Because no one records the condition of the site, none of this appears in any official assessment. The absence of data is as much the problem as the waste itself — a site that isn't measured cannot be argued for, budgeted for, or protected.

Someone Has to Take Responsibility

Taking Responsibility

No public space becomes well-kept by accident. In every case, a small group of people takes responsibility first, and wider community support follows.

Your Support Matters

Shahdara Point needs volunteers, funding, public awareness, and long-term follow-up to make its condition impossible to overlook again.

Join the Campaign

We are recruiting volunteers for the Shahdara Point restoration campaign. Each volunteer will receive site guidance, a field kit, and Guardian gear before being assigned to a cleanup or awareness zone.

After participation, volunteers will receive a signed certificate, recognition in the campaign record, and priority access to future Nature Guardians campaigns and leadership opportunities.
